Zouki Café at the Monash Medical Centre, Clayton
As testament to Zouki’s ability to work with hospital management with a minimal impact on the operation of the hospital, Zouki has recently implemented a $3.7 million refurbishment and building program at Monash Medical Centre while the hospital carried on as normal.
In February this year we completed possibly the largest private development project in an Australian public hospital, entailing:
- the extension of the original café along a 74-metre corridor to the hospital’s existing Public Affairs office;
- the construction of two fixed structures on the hospital’s centrally-located (land-locked) Level 2 terrace;
- the construction of new Public Affairs offices and facilities at the site of the original gift shop;
- the conversion of the existing Public Affairs offices into our kitchen, office and storage area;
- the construction of a modern convenience store/gift shop in one of the two new structures;
- the construction of an indoor-outdoor servery with seating for an extra 150 people in the second structure;
- the development of a full kitchen and generous servery to provide staff, students and visitors with a wide variety of hot food options, fresh sandwiches, focaccias, salads and sushi;
- a dedicated health bar serving juices, smoothies, ice creams and low-fat yoghurts; and
- a refurbished express coffee bar offering a huge array of cakes, pastries, and the best coffee in Melbourne!
Having more than doubled the previous operator’s takings within a week of commencing our contract at Monash – well ahead of the redevelopment of this site - with our full complement of variety now available, today we are enjoying support from the hospital on a scale we had barely dared to imagine. |
